Woke by Leanne Dyck

Because I have a creative mind I can conjure such an amazing life for myself. I write the dialogue, develop the plot, set the scene. It's awe-inspiring, fulfilling, and overwhelming. It bewitches me. And so when reality doesn't live up to fantasy it crushes me. I wallow in the muck of my disappointment. It's impossible to see clearly when I'm covered by mud. And so I miss things -- the thoughtfulness of friends and family, the irrepressible joy of children, the magic of each new day.

"It starts with this:  put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn't in the middle of the room. Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around." Stephen King writes and I hear him say...

Wake up. Don't be dazzled by stardust. Open your eyes to reality. Your life is a blessing cherish it.

#writing: Ponderings...

A writer's duty is to write and submit for the sake of those who will follow, for our readers, and for the power of our words.

Inspiration (short story) by Leanne Dyck

Leanne Dyck read the instructions over slowly. A true story about someone in my life...I could write about my husband...I have tons of stories about Byron. She gulped. But if I do he'd...he'd...never forgive me. He's so private. Her brows knit. But if I don't... Nervously, she wrung her hands. It's so hard to break into the publishing industry. Entering this contest might be my big break. What do I do? Think. Another story called her name. Her face softened. Of course... She crossed her fingers and pressed send.

Avalon (poem) by Leanne Dyck

A golden ray kisses
The cheek of an angel

An angel whispers to a mourning dove
"Awake my child and sing"

A morning dove's song
Awakens a fair maiden

A fair maiden employes
Her skein and needles to knit

A day begins on Avalon
